A RuPaul Bio-Musical Has Been “In Talks” for Years, Michelle Visage Says

The "Drag Race" judge is currently making her West End stage debut.

Better watch your sequined back, Cher!

According to squirrel friend Michelle Visage, a musical based on RuPaul's life may one day sashay to Broadway.

“Believe it or not, that’s been in talks for a good six or seven years," the 50-year-old RuPaul's Drag Race judge tells Gay Times.

“World of Wonder are great at putting everything on the table, but it’s not always up to us to make it happen,” Visage continues. “I’d say you’d just never know, because they’ve got a TV show about his life coming up, and all these things coming up, so you never know.”

A major theater queen herself, Visage is currently making her West End stage debut in the hit queer musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Broadway heartthrob Josh Segarra has been cast opposite RuPaul in Netflix's AJ and the Queen.

RuPaul, who created the upcoming streaming series with Michael Patrick King, will serve as a writer and executive producer alongside the Emmy-winning Sex and the City showrunner, also known for his work on The Comeback and 2 Broke Girls.

The 10-episode hourlong comedy stars the Emmy-winning Drag Race host as Ruby Red, "a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen who travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990s R/V with her unlikely sidekick AJ, a recently orphaned, tough-talking, scrappy 11-year-old stowaway," according to an official synopsis.

"As these two misfits, one tall, one small, travel from city to city, Ruby’s message of love and acceptance winds up touching people and changing their lives for the better. Oh, and RuPaul performs a killer musical number in every drag club."

A series based on RuPaul’s early days as a ’80s club kid has found a home at Hulu, and he is reportedly also developing a daytime talk show.
