The "Drag Race" judge was honored at this past weekend's 2018 GLAAD Gala San Francisco.

Ross Mathews and Michelle Visage had a very busy weekend.

Before their herstoric Emmy win for RuPaul's Drag Race at last night's Primetime Emmy Awards, the two Drag Race judges were at the 2018 GLAAD Gala in San Francisco on Saturday night as Ross was honored with the Davidson/Valentini Award.

The award is given to "a LGBTQ media personality who has made a significant difference in promoting acceptance for the LGBTQ community," and since his years on The Tonight Show, Ross has done just that. Michelle was on-hand to present the Davidson/Valentini Award to Ross, who confessed when he was growing up in Washington state, he never saw any examples of a grown gay men around him, and didn't even know what one would look like.

"I remember thinking: Can I grow up? What does it even look like," he told the audience.

"It was scary. It was so isolating—and that has always driven me, to be the example that I didn't have," Ross continued. "So that kids everywhere who don't have a community, or support, can turn on their TV and see someone like me, an unapologetically gay, high-pitched, big-boned, three chined, Care Bear version of a human being, just being himself."

Ross dedicated the award to his mother who "celebrated her gay son everyday." To see Ross' inspiring speech—with some roasting of Michelle—watch the video below.
